Now audiences can be there as never before as Don Giovanni lives his final moments. Working with our partners Volograms and Sentireal, our Augmented Reality Opera project uses the latest technology to transform your home into the set of the opera – simply by using a smartphone or tablet.
Northern Irish bass Alan Ewing sang the role of Commendatore, and was joined by baritone Ross Ramgobin. They worked with our Artistic Director Dafydd Hall Williams to record the audio for the scene, using Jeremy Sams’ profound English translation. Ulster Touring Opera then filmed in one of the world’s few 3D studios, and virtual holograms (volograms) created.
These volograms will let you become a character in the scene, moving around the performers and witnessing Don Giovanni’s final hair-raising moments. This research has been made possible through the generous support of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Future Screens NI and Digital Catapult.
